The KADI project invites stakeholders from all domains, disciplines and sectors who are interested in the development and delivery of climate services to a hybrid stakeholder workshop held on August 14th 2025 (2-5pm EAT). At this workshop the KADI team will present the outputs of the project and will provide an opportunity for the wider discussion of this work and future developments.
The African continent stands at the forefront of climate change impacts, and addressing these issues requires unbiased adaptation and mitigation interventions that are supported by evidence derived from all sectors of society. To achieve this, Africa needs input from the natural sciences, arts, humanities and social sciences to develop an integrated knowledge infrastructure that reinforces our understanding of greenhouse gas emission sources and sinks, extreme weather patterns, ecosystem responses, and health hazards.
The KADI project (Knowledge and climate services from an African observation and data research infrastructure) is a Horizon Europe project that aims to advance the foundations for a pan-African research infrastructure to enhance the delivery of the climate services required by all sectors of society.
Final Stakeholder workshop
It is our pleasure to invite you to a hybrid stakeholder workshop that will be held on August 14th 2025 (2-5pm EAT). At this workshop the KADI team will present the outputs of this project and will provide an opportunity for the wider discussion of this work with key stakeholders. The workshop will be held in a hybrid format, both online and with an in person meeting at the Slipway Hotel, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The workshop will discuss how the KADI project has addressed the following key topics:
- The climate data needs of key stakeholders and the co-creation process integral to the development of climate services.
- The improvement of climate data streams from experimental pilot studies and training programmes to assess heat stress and air pollution in cities, the benefit of long-term collaborative meteorological measurement networks and the requirements for an enhanced coastal observation network.
- The role of climate service requirements to inform the design of the cross-domain research infrastructure required for Africa.
- The importance of an interdisciplinary community of practice approach to enhance knowledge exchange across Africa and beyond.
- The next steps towards implementation of a coordinated and sustainable long-term research infrastructure for Africa.
The KADI project invites stakeholders from all domains, disciplines and sectors who are interested in the development and delivery of climate services to contribute to this workshop. Further details on the meeting can be found at the registration link provided below.
We welcome your registration by Friday 8th of August at the latest.
