AfriGEO is an initiative of the African continent developed within the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) framework, providing a coordination framework for Africa’s participation in GEO and consists of Africa-based GEO member states (32) and over 15 participating regional institutions.
AfriGEO symposia have served as platforms for networking, engagement, and co-development of impactful and sustainable Earth Observation solutions to Africa’s development challenges. The 2025 symposium builds on past efforts, promoting integration, co-design, user engagement, partnerships, and capacity development, providing the perfect platform for KADI to showcase our blueprint for climate research infrastructure in Africa.
KADI at the AfriGEO Symposium 2025
Theresia Bilola, the Project Manager of KADI will be presenting in the Panel and Technical presentation session on Blue Economy and Climate services (Session 5B, Room B012) on October 8, 14:15-16:30
The title of the presentation is Co-Creating a Pan-African Research and Knowledge Infrastructure for Climate Services, Policy, Impact
Theresia will present the blueprint for the The KADI Research and Knowledge Infrastructure structured across four domains: (i) operational data, ensuring sustained measurements; (ii) information, translating observations into usable outputs; (iii) knowledge, generated through engagement with diverse actors; and (iv) societal impact, realized through tailored climate services for adaptation, mitigation, and disaster preparedness. A particular focus will be on our work in cross-cutting elements like community engagement, co-creation, open science, and competence growth which ensure that services are both scientifically robust and socially relevant.
